I have practised exclusively in family law since 1998.

My passion for this area of law has only deepened with experience. For me, family law is not just a legal discipline, it is the intersection of law, human relationships, and the most significant transitions in people's lives. I find immense satisfaction in helping clients navigate the journey from separation through to divorce, and in guiding them toward outcomes that protect their interests, their families, and their futures.

A commitment born from experience.

My dedication to the area of family violence and coercive control was shaped by an early and deeply personal professional experience; the loss of a client to family violence. That defining moment ignited my lifelong commitment to advocacy, education, and specialist legal representation for victim-survivors.

Today, I’m recognised as one of Australia's first lawyers to specialise in coercive control, and I regularly present training and seminars to my peers on this critical area of law, and speak at national conferences, sharing my expertise and advocating for systemic reform to better protect those affected by family violence.

Specialist expertise across complex matters.

Over nearly three decades, I have developed deep expertise across the full spectrum of family law, with particular specialisation in the most complex parenting and property cases. I frequently act for high net worth individuals and in matters involving substantial and diverse asset pools, complex trust and company structures, business interests, and associated entities. I work closely with accountants, forensic accountants, and financial planners to ensure my clients receive thorough, strategic advice and achieve the best possible outcomes.

I also brings specialist knowledge in surrogacy and reproductive law, LGBTIQ+ family law, and the drafting of complex Financial Agreements and property orders, areas where precision, experience, and a genuine understanding of my clients' circumstances make all the difference.

Not every case needs a courtroom.

I am firm believer that many family law matters do not require litigation, and have undertaken training in both collaborative law and mediation, and I actively encourage clients to explore resolution pathways that reduce conflict, cost, and emotional toll.

Where negotiation, mediation, or collaborative practice can achieve a fair and durable outcome, I will guide clients through that process with the same rigour and commitment I bring to contested proceedings.

However, when litigation is necessary, I’m recognised an experienced and formidable advocate. I frequently represent clients in courts across Australia and work alongside well-known barristers to ensure clients have the strongest possible representation in contested hearings, trials, and appeals.

I also offer KHQ's Family Law Navigator service for people representing themselves; fixed-fee legal guidance without taking over your case. Family law navigator →

"My best advice to anyone who may be considering separation is to get legal advice early, and before you separate, if possible. This is where a lawyer can add the most value. A strategic plan at this stage can set the foundation for a positive outcome and, in many cases, avoid lengthy and costly court proceedings."
